  • In Kansas, most patients can begin physical therapy without a physician referral, thanks to Direct Access laws. However, some insurance plans may still require a referral for coverage. Our licensed physical therapists are highly trained experts in evaluating and treating musculoskeletal and movement-related conditions. Direct Access allows patients to receive care more quickly and efficiently, enhances patient independence, and may help lower overall healthcare costs. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm their specific requirements for physical therapy services. It’s also important to be aware of your state’s Direct Access regulations. While a referral may not be necessary to start therapy, maintaining communication with your primary care provider or specialist is essential. Our team will keep your referring provider informed about your treatment and progress to support coordinated care. If a referral becomes necessary later, having this connection already in place ensures a smooth transition. Additionally, your plan of care will be submitted to your primary care physician or referring provider for review and signature as required.
